Year 3
Welcome to Year 3!
Welcome to Year 3 with Miss Nason!
Year 3 is an exciting milestone as children make the transition from Key Stage 1 into Key Stage 2. Children learn to become more independent, take on new challenges, and grow both academically and personally. With higher expectations comes the chance to develop confidence, resilience, maturity, and a love of learning that will support them throughout their school journey.
One of the most exciting parts of Year 3 is the opportunity to experience new subjects and activities. Children can look forward to learning French and enjoying swimming lessons, as well as taking part in a wide range of engaging learning experiences such as exciting school trips.
In Maths, we will build on the skills learned in Year 2, deepening our understanding of concepts such as fractions, time, multiplication, addition, and subtraction. Through problem-solving, reasoning, and practical activities, pupils will develop confidence and fluency in their mathematical thinking.
In English, children will explore a variety of exciting writing styles, including storytelling, diary writing, and non-fiction articles. We will also enjoy reading a rich range of texts and immersing ourselves in some fantastic novels throughout the year, beginning with The Twits by Roald Dahl.
Our wider curriculum is packed with fascinating topics. In History, we will journey back in time to discover the mysteries of the Stone Age, uncover the wonders of Ancient Egypt, and learn about the Anglo-Saxons and their impact on Britain. In Science, we will investigate the human body, explore rocks, study plants, and delve into many other exciting areas of scientific enquiry.
Year 3 is a year full of discovery, challenge, and achievement. We can’t wait to see Year 3 thrive!
