Welcome to Year Two
Welcome to Year Two's page
Year Two is taught by Mrs McNickle-Edwards with support from Mrs Childler.
In Year Two this term:
This term in English we will be looking at linking reading and writing to exploring narrative (stories). We will begin by using the text Man on the Moon. Children will be familiarizing themselves with the story and then exploring use of apostrophes to show possession, and the use of different types of punctuation including; full stops, question marks, exclamation marks and commas in lists.
We will then continue to develop our reading and writing skills through non-fiction texts. We will look at how non-fiction texts are organised and structured. We will link this work to our Topic Fiction or Non-Fiction where we will be exploring Space alongside the Man on the Moon text.
Please spend at least 5 mins each evening reading with your child. Every time you listen to your child read please sign/ make a comment in their reading diary. It is important that your child’s reading book is in school each day, so please support us in this by ensuring it is your child’s book bag.
This term in Mathematics we will be preparing ourselves for the SAT’s tests, learning different ways to pictorially solve SAT’s type questions.
We will then continue to develop our mathematics skills through re-visiting all areas of the mathematics curriculum to consolidate learning in Year 2.
